Literature: Singled out by art critic Lucille E. Morehouse in the October 25 "Indianapolis Sunday Star" newspaper, p. 22. She writes of "Toward the Moon," "...the picture is of indescribable beauty for the harmony of luminous green tones that are brought out by the moonlight." She also wrote later in the review "In every landscape that Carl Woolsey paints there is an element of poetry."
An excellent and ambitious Taos subject. Combines the painter's interest in luminous moonlight effects, with his unique, almost "pointillist" paint application technique. Signed and titled verso as well, and retaining its fine original Jean Woolsey frame. One of the finest Taos subjects we've had in recent memory.
